Save your money and you car!
It seems there is an issue of vehicle thefts and vandalism in the FLEX parking lot, which you would think would be a safe/secure lot but is NOT. One should check the Cleveland Police Departments online crime map to see what crimes have been taking place on FLEX property as well as the surrounding side-streets and neighborhood, especially if you value your car and life. Save your money kids and find an alternative.
Grime, dirt, scum (the dirt and human varieties). Vast hallways, passages, and corridors filled with a strange emptiness. There's going to be a RECON party in April? What kind of guys will that attract to a place like Flex? You can have it!
Just had to comment
I haven't dropped by Flex for months but I needed to add my two cents especially upon reading a comment by a guy below, in regard to fake posts. I periodically check this site to see what's going on, and most of the most biting negative remarks about Flex were deleted, but the brilliantly positive ones replace them. It does seem to be a fake-out job. I'm old enough to remember Club Cleveland and even the old Flex on W Ninth. The new Flex is absolutely nothing like those places. Its down right dirty and empty whenever I've been inside. The crowd is usually a few lost looking and bored twinks who huddle in a room while heavyset old men wander the halls in an endless rotation. This place was promoted as gay cleveland's salvation and a magnet for gay tourism. In reality it has proved to be a huge flop for two reasons, I guess. For one, the staff, at least most staffers, didnt appear to know how to practice good customer service. A bathhouse is not the right place for club queen attitude. The facility's cleanliness was never a high point. That is also a managment problem. More importantly, the day of the baths is over. Young men, at least not the drugged out and losers, arent interested in trolling for casual sex in dark dirty hallways like back in the days of AIDS. Internet sites and gay friendly places have replaced the need for hook ups in public parks and baths. the only guys who continue to frequent these places are social outcasts and sex addicts, as well as hustlers and drug dealers. Cleveland may not have the most happening gay scene, but it surely has outgrown the bathhouse scene.
Underline racism
I would think twice about wasting my time at this place if i were a black person. My friend and i was standing in the hallway talking to the only hot guy(who happened to be blk) in the club when some old queen comes up and grabbed the guys ass. The guy told the person that if he did it again he would punch him in the face. Next thing you know the staff was acting as if the guy threatened the President. The staff accused the guy of trying to KILL someone. I was really shocked that its OK to grab someone uninvited but it's not OK to stand up for yourself. The staff was attempting to make this guy look like angry black man when in fact the guy was one of the most well mannered people i have ever met there. The guy ended up leaving. I left soon after. Doubt i will ever go back. Third time and i have yet to be impressed.
Nothing but positive experiences so far
I've been to Flex three times now, and have had a great experience each time. The first time I went, was my first ever to a bath, and being a Friday night, I was completely overwhelmed. After about 30 minutes I got into the swing of things (not literally) and made a lot of nice connections. The second and third times were outstanding. I found the place to be suprisingly clean - my feet didn't get dirty dispite walking around for hours cruising the rooms. The dark areas were active, and the saunas, pool, and whirlpool were clean and well maintained. I found the staff to be curt but friendly enough, even taking the time to explain to a newcomer how things worked. All in all, I really liked the place. I agree that it could be more crowded but the days I went were very nice weatherwise, so that may have kept people from going. Give it a try.
