The gay equivalent of a muff dive

Smelling the odor in this bar must be similar to what a hetero man sniffs when he eats out his girl. No freakin way am I ever going back to this crapshack.

Upchuck on a plate

That's what I think of whenever I think of this bar. The region is gentrifying, so they say, but you can't tell, and this bar looks more old school blue collar dive than today's hip gay club.

Gross

I can't imagine a more gross-out place than this one. On two separate occasions, I found the bar to be inhabited by old women and one or two old queens. No offense, but the bartender, like the bar itself, had that peculiar look that implied he had seen better days. The bar sends out a very negative vibe. To top things off, it's located next to a blood bank, where desperately poor people line up to sell their fluids. If you go to Muggs at night, you're just a crazy f*ck. The neighborhood is like something out of blaxploitation flick from the seventies. I was offered crack by a dealer as I walked back to my car. Again, if you're from out of town, skip this bar. The street is lined with straight strip clubs and two boarded-up adult bookstores that onced catered to cruising gay men. Since those places closed, most gays skip the neighborhood. I have no idea why a gay bar is even located in this area. Most residents are decent, but West 25th Street at night is just crawling with ho's and felons.

A little scary

We stopped in on a weekday night and the customers were a bit scary. It's basically just like any downtown dive bar, except it caters to gay and lesbian.

Hello and goodbye

Seems like the owners can't make up there minds what type of bar they want to have here. Now it's back to a womins bar, no guys at all. Maybe next month it will be a guys bar again. Buy a 6pack and stay at home cause it'll be more fun than this place.
