Not impressed
Heard alot of good things but was frankly disappointed when i visited on a friday night. Too much attitude for such a tiny divey bar.
ugh
Expensive and watered down drinks. Not very friendly and slow disorganized bartenders. Could. Be a nice place but the music needs to be lowered a bit.
Bottoms Up, Down, and Everywhere
Drag shows and "make-up parties" (yuck!) are this bar's claim to fame. Nuff said! It is nicely located on West 117 Street, close to other bars, but the parking lot is very small and you will probably will have to park elsewhere and walk. Late at night, the area is so-so, not dangerous, but apparently there have been a couple of gay bashings in the neighborhood in the recent past, so exercise some reasonable caution. Everybody knows it is a gay bar, so keep that in mind, if you walk outside alone and down the street to your car. It seems nice enough, bar not my kind of place- too bright and shiny. The guys in the bar were not particulary friendly, no surprise. A hang out for twinks, queens, and their admirers, as well as fans of drag "entertainment." Is it just me, or should drag have died like twenty years ago? I would skip Bottoms Up, unless finding a bottom is all you're lookin for.
Extremely Diverse. Always Changing. Refreshing
The bar is not run by rockstars nor is it full of ex-Grid workers. That ended a while ago. However, the name is a pun, not a suggestion that the bar is for bottoms. They keep a diverse crowd within the gay community, and going 21+ in the last month was the best thing they could do for it. You get a little of everything, their shows are great because they intersperse entertainers with dance breaks unlike other clubs in Cleveland, and the bar workers are hot. Older guys, younger guys, slim builds, muscle guys, average guys. Very friendly. Very welcoming. If you thought differently, try again on a Thursday-Saturday. Thursdays are "Boy Bar Strippers" and the crowd is quite great. They bring in hot strippers from Akron/Canton and Columbus rather than the emaciated femme twink cokeheads in Cleveland.
All Hype, not hip
A nice club if you are looking for the stand, model, and pose crowd. If you want a stiff drink, fun people, or guys who don't judge you by your shirt label or the car you drive, then go someplace else.
