Where you hope you don't end up when you're older

two types of guys go to the hawk. those who have given up and those drunk and horny. go early and its so creepy, unwashed, and stale that you feel itchy when you sit down. half the bar stools are broken, the bathroom reeks of who knows what and is never clean, dust hangs in strands from the ceiling, skeezy types camp out for hours at a time. disco and rap (?!) blast from the jukebox and at night they leave the door open so you freeze. wonder why it gets low reviews. bob is the good thing about the place.

Best Bar That Is Not In my home city of New Orleans

I look forward to leaving New Orleans for Cleveland, and having friendly Ohio folks greet me as though I am at home in Louisiana.

Hygiene Optional

I have traveled and seen a lot of places but this place is one of the worst. Run down and beat up. Looks like where all the locals who never had a chance to hook-up wind up at the end of the night.

Not the bar I remember

When I was younger and just coming out, I went to the Hawk regularly. The place today is something I barely recognize. The men are a gross mix of fugly chubs and effeminate persons. Not my cup of tea. Weekends draw some young guys, but weekdays are strictly for the gross and old set. A few cute guys but most were plain sick on my last visit. And I mean my last visit! A crazy drunk white guy kept eyeing me and muttering something under his breath every time he passed by. Nice. Ugh. A fat black guy who looked like a roly poly cartoon character talked at the top of his lungs and trash talked about so many people that I just couldn't take it any longer. I left my seat at the bar but the table were either taken or covered with dirt and residue of who knows what. Not that the bartenders clean them. I was grossed out and left. Left for good. Avoid this place if you have sense,.

Same crowd all the time with a few wanderers. Some guys are ok but others are downright obnoxious and full on turds. Was alot better a few years ago but like everywhere has gone downhill fast. The friendliest bartenders are Troy and Bob. If they arent there dont spend anymore time. An irritating development is the habit of guys playing the internet jukebox with their smart phones. Customers have gotten into the annyoing habit of playing 20 or more songs without anyone knowing. Jukebox runs nonstop for three or more hours. So get used to listening to other people's tunes all night long. If you don't like the music it gets boring pretty fast, as eye candy is in short supply. The bartenders are the only reason to go anymore.
